Bolon is a Swedish design company specialising in innovative and sustainable woven vinyl flooring and rug solutions for public spaces.
Under the leadership of sisters Annica and Marie Eklund, the third-generation family business has transformed from a traditional weaving mill into an international design brand with clients such as Armani, Google, Four Seasons Hotels, Chanel, Adidas, Apple and Missoni Home.
With a strong commitment to sustainability, Bolon designs and manufactures all products in its facility using only renewable energy. The company has gained worldwide recognition for their award-winning design, superior quality, and collaborations with some of the world’s most acclaimed innovators and creatives.

Bolon’s woven flooring
Bolon’s woven flooring has four core attributes; design, cleanability, sustainability and durability. Designed and made to last, aesthetics and functionality are of equal importance.
Design – all products are based on the company’s proprietary yarn and expert weaving techniques. All of Bolon’s collections are fully adaptable and open to endless new combinations to suit any environment.
Sustainability – Bolon has been a pioneer in the field of sustainability for over 70 years, with the company originally founded on the idea of recycling vinyl and textile offcuts into woven rag rugs. The business has since evolved, but sustainability remains at the heart of its DNA.
Cleanability – Impervious to liquids to cope with almost any spill. The woven flooring provides no place for dirt or debris to hide. Bolon’s products can actually be easily cleaned with just a vacuum cleaner, brush or mop – no environmentally harmful chemicals are required.
Durability – Bolon’s flooring is designed to last, all collections come with a 10 to 15-year warranty, but are expected to last significantly longer. Suitable for high-intensity commercial environments, Bolon’s flooring does not wear, flatten, or dull over time.

Bolon’s sustainability credentials
‘The production of Bolon’s flooring is carbon neutral as the company has its own factory in Sweden which uses 100% renewable energy with zero climate impact. Bolon has a low carbon footprint through low weight per square metre, 26 % recycled materials and PVC with low fossil content. Carbon footprint is available for all floors based on third-party environmental performance declarations from 2021.
All of Bolon’s products have high environmental performance. Bolon uses an average of 26% recycled material in its flooring and is working to continuously improve this. Bolon used 62% more recycled materials in its flooring in 2021, compared to 2018, and since 2020, Bolon has used post-consumer material in its floors, demonstrating its commitment to circularity.
As well as using recycled materials, Bolon’s floors consist of chalk, PVC, polyester, and fibreglass. The chalk is 40 % of the weight of the floor, is harmless and widely available. Our eco-labelled PVC is completely free from the problems PVC has historically been associated with. With the combination of chalk, PVC and recycled material our floor has only 21 % new fossil content.
All additives used in the flooring are hazardous free. This means that there are neither heavy metals nor dangerous phthalates in any of our floors. All floors are certified with very low emissions throughout their lifetime.
For 20 years, Bolon has been gradually reducing the impact of its flooring on the planet. Whilst Bolon is proud of its work to date, it recognises that there is still more work to be done. This thinking led to Bolon launching its ‘Promise’ in 2021, which set ambitious new climate and circularity goals; by 2028 all its flooring will be 50% circular and the brand will halve the climate impact of its products compared to a base year of 2018. This ‘Promise’ reflects Bolon’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and reaffirms that the future of the company will be defined by sustainable practices.
Delivering the ‘Promise’ and achieving these ambitious targets means that Bolon needs to focus on two key areas; circularity and climate. By fulfilling its 2028 ‘Promise’, Bolon will be on the path to zero climate impact well ahead of 2050, making the company’s sustainability goals more ambitious than the 2015 UN Paris Climate Agreement.

Artisan and Botanic new colourways
The latest launches from Bolon are the new additional colourways for the longstanding and bestselling woven vinyl flooring collections; Artisan and Botanic.
About Artisan
Inspired by traditional craftsmanship, yet produced using innovative fibres, Artisan is a fusion of old and new. Designed for high-traffic areas, such as offices and hospitality spaces, the collection has been selected for use in a diverse range of projects, both in the UK and internationally.
Bolon has now expanded the collection with ten new dynamic and lively colourways, that complement the existing collection’s vibrant and expressive energy and add to the brand’s portfolio.
About Botanic
Inspired by the natural world, the Botanic collection consists of a varied range of soft, warm and intelligent tones. Having proved popular since its launch, Bolon has now expanded the collection’s colour palette with eight new shades that transcend what first meets the eye.
Cathrine Ahlenius, Head of Research and Design at Bolon commented, “Artisan and Botanic each have their own identity. Artisan is a lively and expressive collection and the Botanic range is soft and warm. We want to highlight those characteristics with new colours that provide more combination possibilities, both within the collections and with other items in Bolon’s product portfolio.”
Sarah Herman, Marketing Director at Bolon UK added, “We are delighted to introduce the new colourways for these popular collections and broaden our offering of woven vinyl flooring.”
Headquartered in Sweden but globally renowned, Bolon is passionate about sustainability. Artisan and Botanic are made in Sweden, only with renewable energy and using a mixture of recycled and new material. The Artisan and Botanic designs are available in roll, 50x50cm tiles and as Bolon Studio tiles.
